I ain't even got to research this one. "Baby" is an old school term of endearment that unlike other generational language, has lasted and is still a part of current usage. After a week off, I will continue my Motown emphasis on each week's theme. Here are three favorite old-school "baby" songs:
The Supremes: Baby, Baby Where Did Our Love Go?
The Four Tops: Baby I Need Your Lovin'
Smokey Robinson and The Miracles: Ooh Baby, Baby

I didn't realize that you were focused on the Motown sound for your weekly OSF entry. You have a wealth of talent. I enjoyed all three of your posted videos! The one by Smokey hit my heart the most ... I posted it on my blog as well!
peace, Villager
All three excellent choices. I thought of posting The Supremes singing "Baby Love," but "Where Did Our Love Go" is another one of their classics. I've worn out at two different versions of "Ooh, Baby, Baby" but Smokey's will always be my favorite version. The Four Tops. I've been thinking I need to move them to MP3. Happy OSF.
You can never go wrong with the Motown sound. I love me some Levi Stubbs. I went with Motown too.
All great and all definitely classic! You gotta give Motown their props!
and every generation around today knows these song as well. great choices.
It's a Motown Review, I feel like I'm at a concert, or watching PBS. I love everyone of these songs, and they all go well together.
Classic. Classic. Classic. (I'm a woman of few words - lol.)
Happy OSF, RevvyRev
How did I forget the Supremes???? Not to mention Smokey! Very good ones and reminders of my days of having a few "baby" moments at the submarine races, lol.
I am overdosing on Motown tonight. I am on West Coast time and just getting in enjoying my OSF blogger friends.
Happy OSF!
Oh! You trying to "corner the market" with the Motown OSF theme! lol! That's a great idea! And these picks are just way too cool!
Much obliged! Have a great weekend!
Man, I used to BE Diana Ross (in the mirror, the bathroom, other places where people couldn't see me)...
Your choices are on point this week, Rev!
Happy OSF!
I soooo wanted to post The Supremes, but I knew someone else would have dibs on them. And I am not surprised that it is you! Love your pics too. All the oldies are hitting me hard this week, reminding me of my Dad. I love it!
Hello there!
I like those videos!
As for the "baby" terminology...
I must admit that the day my pastor spoke to me from the pulpit and called me "baby" in front of everyone, I wanted to give him the side eye...but I didn't. I played it off.
My former bishop used to call me "girl" when no one was around. I told his wife and she said, "he means it as a term of endearment". But he wasn't calling the male ministers "boy"...
*shaking my head*
Oooops am I off topic? *LOL*
@ Marvalus
You USED to be Diana? Honey, I still AM Diana!! Fabulous is my middle name, sista.
Until about two years ago, I used to rock that wild Diana hair too...
No shame!
*grins*
I thought I left a comment here. My memory is going. Anyway, I love me some Smokey and I am not mad that he showed up on various OSF posts last week. :)
