My All-Time Fave, Bar None: OSF Soul Train

I don't know what it is (not really true), but no single entertainer grips my attention like Jody Watley, who began her career on Soul Train at age 14 and became one of the most popular dancers in the show's history. Still going strong as both a performer and entrepreneur, she was influenced by the legendary Diana Ross, and recognized an innovative and influential trendsetter.

This performance, while not from a Soul Train appearance, typifies what I see:

Revvy Rev,

We were thinking along similar lines. Ms. Wately was a great Soul Train dancer. I choose Shalamar, the group Jody Wately was a part of.

Happy OSF.

Jody Watley was the coolest in the 80's when she use to dance with Jeffrey Daniels. I actually loved her solo career stuff, post Shalamar. Happy OSF!

I liked her Shalamar and solo years too but this one is new to me. Thanks for sharing.

Happy OSF.

Some people used to tune in just to see her dance. Good choice bringing back good memories. Happy OSF!

Great choice! I had forgotten that she started out as a ST dancer until I read it over at Hagar's Daughter's place.

But 14?!! Ooo, I don't know about that (she says, now that she has daughters of her own...) LOL

Happy OSF!

She was great. I just couldn't keep my eyes off her. And her voice had a sexy but more down-to- earth quality to it than Ross.

By he way, this is the first time I've been able to comment for a while. The letters popped up to put in the verification box this time. Blessings
