Great Choice Revvy!
This particular LP got a lot of play in my home and my son was just a toddler bobbing his little head to the beat.
This song got a lot of airplay on the Boston radio stations. This is a fun party record.

Even though I'm more of a fan of Chaka's jazzier stylings, this is definitely one of her top pop numbers for sure.
BTW, when you mentioned on the 'Spot' about some of her other jazz offerings, I was trying to remember the name of that acoustic album she did with Stanley Clark and Freddie Hubbard (and Lenny White?). NOW I remember. It was "Echoes of an Era." You remember that one? Man, her rendition of "I Loves You Porgy" was almost haunting.
D, you are so right about the album with Freddie Hubbard and Stanley Clarke. Who else is as versatile as Chaka Khan? No one! To be able to dominate across genres is unthinkable, yet she does it.

My introduction to Chaka Khan was way before 1981 while hanging out with grownups. Her music is sensational.
