OSF Birth Year Song
Youtube credit: ripa171 March 29, 2008
There are many thrills and chills that have entered and exited since this song was originally written and recorded by Roy Hawkins in 1951, but popularized by BB King in 1969. The Thrill Is Gone was also recorded by Aretha, Little Milton, and many others and is a blues classic.
Oh man... Brother you just earned even more respect from me for this one. And as a blues/jazz/funk musician I gotta say this one hits home. PLUS I didn't even know that hostorical tidbit that "Thrill is Gone" wasn't a B.B. original..?? Wow. Great pick, and happy OSF.
Like everyone else, didn't know this wasn't a BB King original. You're schooling us over here. Love the blues :) Also loved seeing Muhammad Ali in the beginning too.
So blues is my favorite genre, and my best friend and I use to listen to this song, like we understood what it meant. Obviously we were too young to get it. This takes me back to my mama's card parties. I'm a juke joint baby, so this is definitely a hit with me.
I'm right with you Revvy Rev. This takes me back to parties at my aunt and uncle's house that always ended with the Blues and of course BB King! Good choices and a very good year!
God Bless all y'all for stopping by this week. I pray great things for each of your lives. I thank you for receiving the fresh water from these old wells.

This was one of my Dad's favorite songs. Particularly, this version by B.B. King. I had no idea about the other covers though. Let the research begin.
Happy OSF. :)
And that's how it's done!
I also thought it was a BB original! Thanks for sharing! Excellent choice.
Nice to hear the original! Happy OSF man-

I didn't realize that "The Thrill Is Gone" dated back to 1951. Thanks for the info.

I always thought this was a BB original. In my mind it's his signature song.
I'm post a day late, but decided it's only fair to tell my age no matter what Grandma said (a lady never reveals her age) - LOL.
I'm guilty of thinking BB King brought this to us first. Thanks for the education.
Happy OSF
Great chocie Rev, I had no idea that this was not an original from B.B. king, I am slipping.

B.B. King is truly a great performer!
I went to see him in concert and to this day he still is one of the best players I have ever seen.
