Drama Highway: OSF Remakes

Love songs are easy subjects for remakes because of the drama encountered on the journey of finding a love that will last. Have you traveled that road? Arriving at the conclusion that the thrill is found in compatibility and companionship can make the trip worth the while.

Old School Live version

You got to winners here Rev. I actually referenced the Marvin Gaye - Gladys Knight and the Pips song in my post. A bit of trivia, in the case of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" which is the remake? Mull that over and enjoy your Friday.

Hey Rev.

Like Urban Queen, I probably would go with Bobby the Originator on this one too, although Youngblood most definitely deserves his props. That young brother can truly sing. he obviously studied Bobby and other Old School cats, and it shows.

Great pick!

You know me - I gotta go with the truly Old School - gimme some more Gladys anyday!

You'll never guess who made remakes of Helter Skelter especially the last one - teehee!

Happy OSF, Rev!

Rev. Bobby Womack hands down, the youngster was alright. Am kinda bias!

#1 song by Bobby Womack, Harry Hippie.

OK I'm not going to lie, I think K-Ci at his prime killed this song. Today I don't think he could sing this in the shower to save his life.

I think it's a tie between Gladys and Marvin. They both sound great singing this classic.

My mom use to play the original, and I use to run with remake. I know this song very well. Jodeci also did a remake of Lately by Stevie Wonder that's pretty doggone good. I think you would like it.

First, wow! Bobby Womack is going waaay back. Hearing his voice brings back the little kids memories for me.

Thank you so much for the Gladys and Marvin video. I had never seen that one. Good stuff. :-)

I like the K-Ci version. Maybe it's cus I'm a youngun. Not saying its better than Bobby Womack, but I like it. My favorite Jodeci cover is probably Lately. If only K-Ci wasnt so dang overdramatic all the time...lol.

And I never heard the Marvin and Gladys collaboration. That's classic right there.

I choose Youngblood's version.

On another note, I'm so glad I'm not on the "drama highway of dating."

I featured a love song also this week.

Happy OSF!

OH my.. If you think you're lonely now was one of the songs I grew up on... I like both versions. I am just partial to K Ci because Jodeci is one of my favorite bands... Great Choices...

Hey there Rev! Now you know I gotta go completely old school with the picks - cause that's my history. So I'm voting for Bobbie with ties going to Marvin and Gladys.

Rev, Rev, Rev...I am going to have to go with Bobby on this one too...although K-Ci brings it. And I agree with Shae that, unfortunately, the only way he could sing this now is by listening to it on the radio like us...poor thing.

That Gladys/Marvin collabo is nice!

I am with the concensus here. Bobby is definetly a better choice. Just so smooth and mellow

So funny! I had a debate about which version was better not long ago. I have to admit I feel as if I should like Bobby's version better but K-Ci gets it for me. Great choice Rev!
