Some things are for select company, a specific niche, or a rare breed. My youngin' friends may not get this, but there are some choice bloggers who can go way back in the day and ruminate on these classics.

Yo Rev!
Choice blogger reporting for duty! Yeah, the younguns might not can get to the real deal like you and me. But I'm right there with ya doc. Walk on By? It's Your Thing (Do whatcha wanna do)? Oh yeah, oh yeah. That takes me back to right where my ears wanna be.
Great choices!
I like how you put that, "Choice Bloggers" LOL!!! I'm especially loving the Isleys!
Great picks! You KNOW they don't make music like this anymore... a shame half the garbage they call music today.
Have a great weekend!
Hey now, I am a yongin' and throughly UNDERSTAND! (oh right, choice blogger...lol)
I must say that I know Isaac's stuff but was never a HUGE fan. I do of course respect him. But The Isleys!! You got me there! I have a box set that I put on every now and then...hmm I think today is a good day for revisiting!
Happy OSF!
All before my graduation year, yet each one of them brought me way back to memorable smiles. :-)
"Baby, I'm for Real" -- I was nine years old and loved that song. The Isley Bros. and Isaac Hayes, well, lots of my money went to buying their records.
Who's choosing the weekly themes for Old School Fridays? That's the only thing I wasn't able to figure out when I decided to participate today for the first time.
Thank you for visiting my blog in the past, Rev.
Wow, Rev I'm going to need to talk to you about a mix tape real soon. LOL Nice choices. :)
Hey D, Regina, Tha Connoisseur, Truth Speaking, & Shae - Thank y'all for hangin out at the Grown Folks' Set. That's just how we roll. Don't y'all be strangers!
Well, being a choice old blogger who goes way back I loved them!! Most especially Isaac!
I went way back too - actually 5 years before I actually graduated to post Elvis singing Viva Las Vegas, since it was Elvis week on my boomer blog.
Happy OSF!
I get the music--the chord progressions, the melodies, and the words. What I don't get is those dresses that Isaac Hayes' background singers were wearing.
Counselor, they sho' could sang tho! That was their Sunday go ta meetin' dresses. You're right I don't know if we should have been on stage in caftans but I've seen worse. But as in all fashions, "Time Will Reveal" (no pun intended) :)
PopArtDiva, I don't know, you might get DQ'd for going back 5 years.... just kidding, I most certainly will check out the boomer blog. :)
Hi there Pastor,
These are surely classics!!
Thanks for sharing!
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
Lisa
oooooo...that's all I can say! LOL!
Great picks...really takes me back to the real good old days!
I know all these songs, and I was born a little later. My mama filled the house with soul and blues. Issac Hayes was in heavy rotation. I love the beat on Walk On By. Of course it's been sampled because it's so good.
Baby I'm Real was remade by After 7 and produced by Babyface. I like the original best.
It's Your Thing by The Isleys is an American classic. I think everyone has danced to that song.
My mama always said I had an old soul, and I think she was right.
Hey Pastor it's not fair that you had such great music back "in the olden days." - LOL
If I could snap my fingers I would. I enjoyed each one.
Why don't songs have those great preludes anymore? It builds a certain anticipation for what you're going to hear...even if you already knwo the words. I graduated high school much later and most of my friends can sing Walk on By...that's testament to a song.
I'm with Shae...we are going to need to get your tastes on tape!
MY mother used to play Isaac Hayes...that I Stand Accused record; I think I know the words by heart!
Great choices
You know that this is grown folks music for real!
Great Choices Revvy!
All three of these have me sitting here smiling and thinking way back in the day!
