Just My Take: OSF Christmas Songs

My favorite take on the classic The Christmas Song is a 1998 performance by Aaliyah. Sometimes the lights that shine brightest seem to also shine shortest.

Rev, you are right she was one of the brightest stars of her era and was taken from here too soon.
She has a beautiful voice!
Ms. Marva will love it, she is a total Aaliyah fan!!!!

Hey there, you Superior Scribbler, you! First of all, I'm not "spamming" you; I promise! Second of all, I'd like to introduce myself: I'm Melissa B., The Scholastic Scribe, & I'm the "Original" Superior Scribbler! Third thing on my mind: I've been nominated for a pretty prestigious blog award; I'd greatly appreciate your vote, so if you click on over to my place, you'll see the info. It's an annual award from EduBlog, and I'm up for Best Individual Blog. And 4th thing on today's agenda: I've got a cute "contest," of sorts, going on at my place every Sunday. Please come by this Sunday for the Silly Sunday Sweepstakes. And, thanks for your support!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this one. I had never seen this video. She was really coming into her own and had it not been for her untimely demise, Beyonce would have had to look over her shoulder all the time. Happy Holidays to you Rev!

Happy OSF! I've never seen this performance by Aliyah. Thank you for sharing it with us...

Thank you for visiting my blog earlier today. I invite your blog readers to check out Kurtis Blow as he engages in some Christmas Rapping. Some of y'all young folk don't know what I'm talkin' about...

peace, Villager

Ok, I'm adding this to my play list. This is new to me. I have heard so many new Christmas songs that I like. I literally listen to the same songs over and over, and have not added that many new ones. I guess Christmas is so much of a tradition for me.

Anyway I like this version, is soft and sweet.

Have a blessed and Merry Christmas day.

Baby Girl...your statement about her is so true...I absolutely admired her talent and was (am) heartbroken over her early departure from this earth.

She sang this beautifully...I vaguely remember it, so thanks for refreshing my memory!

Merry Christmas, Rev!

Aaliyah was a great talent and hadn't even reached her full potential. Excellent selection Rev.

I can see why you chose this one. I admire those with a song in their heart and the gift to deliver it.

I have been MIA for OSF for a while now. Perhaps my Fridays will free up, but until then play that old school music Revvy Rev!
